This toolkit, published by the National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Homicide by People with Mental Illness, supports mental health care providers to self-assess their local services and individual practice against key Inquiry recommendations.
Suicide and homicide by mentally ill people are major concerns for mental health care providers. The National Confidential Inquiry has made recommendations for clinical services over a number of years. In this toolkit these recommendations have been formulated into quality and safety statements regarding clinical, organisational and training aspects of care.
Based the Inquiry’s research findings, the toolkit provides practical steps that health professionals and managers can take to help improve service safety and reduce risk.
