This report asserts that improvements must be made across South Lakeland mental health services to ensure the safety of rapidly increasing numbers of self harming or suicidal young people.
The report authors interviewed more than 200 people, ranging from people who use our local mental health services, their friends and family, to the doctors, nurses and support workers who help people in need.
The report highlights the fact that there are no Tier four beds or specialised hospital care in South Lakeland for young people with serious mental health problems in crisis. Tier four services treat patients with more complex needs usually requiring inpatient treatment.
The report urges NHS England to speed up plans to increase the services available for the most at risk youngsters in Cumbria.
Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron, commissioned the report following hundreds of complaints from parents desperate for an overhaul of the existing provision.
